Chase Plastics and DSM solve a customer’s challenge
A Chase Plastics customer in the Midwest was having low-temperature performance issues with a specified flexible PVC part. We suggested a UV stable 55 shore A Sarlink® TPV for evaluation using an existing mold. While low-temp performance improved, elongation was insufficient and the knit line was unacceptable.
Chase, its processor customer and the end user met to develop a solution. We determined that additional production changes were needed. The processor modified the gating and added a tab to increase durability and optimize the knit-line location. We molded and tested the new parts and the end user later validated them.
Working together, Chase Plastics, its customer and supplier DSM Thermoplastic Elastomers efficiently resolved this production issue.
